Police investigators looking into the four shootings that occurred in July and August are appealing to witnesses to call and tell them what they know, even anonymously.

“I truly and strongly believe that there are people in the community who have information” about the shootings, Capt. Steve McCarthy tells redbankgreen.
No injuries resulted from any of the four incidents between July 31 and August 22, though a bullet entered the bathroom of a house near Drs. Parker Boulevard and South Pearl Street and another was lodged in the siding of a Clinton Place residence. All the shootings occurred west of Maple Avenue and no arrests have been made.
Evidence from the shootings — two bullets and two shell casings, one of which was retrieved from each crime scene — were sent to the State Police, which entered them into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), says McCarthy. The database enables image-based comparisons of ballistic evidence from crimes.
Red Bank has yet to be notified of any potential matches. McCarthy declined to say if preliminary analysis indicated that the bullets and shells came from a single weapon.
McCarthy also declined to comment on remarks made at the Oct. 22 Borough Council meeting, where Councilman Art Murphy indicated significant progress had been made toward finding the shooter or shooters. Murphy is the council’s liaison to the police department.
The investigation of the shootings “is under control,” Murphy said, as part of an outburst in which he confronted Councilwoman Grace Cangemi for statements she made at the candidate’s night on Oct. 7. “If I told you you the story,” Murphy said, “you’d say, ‘Wow!.’”
McCarthy said it would be inappropriate for him to discuss the case in detail or address the substance of Murphy’s remarks.
“We’re making some progress,” McCarthy said. “We have a good direction, but anything can help.”

That same evening a shot was also sent into the
home/siding of the house directly east of the
Madonna House (on the southeast corner of S. Pearl & Drs.Parker Blvd).
I never saw that address reported in the papers so maybe the police don't know about it.
pass it along
we could pass it on to Murphy but he would say WOW
Murphy said, "you'd say, 'Wow!.'
And just to think; the comment was this:
"We don't need more Police on the Westside"
Aren't you glad that we are not voting for the Sharon Lee party!
We need more police an we need them walking the beat also!
Its clear that Sharon Lee is not in touch with the Westside's problems or she would never have stated that she didn't want extra police patrolling the area. Now more than ever we need to keep our children safe they are the future of Red Bank and she is not. I urge you all to think before you pull that lever or push that button, of our Children and how little this administration has done for them. No community center, no parks (no communication within the parks and rec department and council, only chaos), an increase in crime of over 25%, over crowding in homes, property taxes sky rocketing, prostitution on the streets and the newbies of Ziperman and hooli are crying about signs? Lee has not got a clue and its obviously clear that neither do her running mates. The time is ripe for change, She has to go.
And Art, still waiting to say WOW
"'I truly and strongly believe that there are people in the community who have information about the shootings,' Capt. Steve McCarthy tells redbankgreen." (Quoting the article above)
Then why, pray tell, did Captain McCarthy and/or the RBPD withhold this information from the public until 9 days after the last of the four shootings took place? (See Redbankgreen.com post of August 31, 2007) Is it perhaps because Captain McCarthy previously didn't want to point out those failures of the RBPD? Or rather is it because he now thinks that the memories of those he "truly and strongly believes" have relevant information will have somehow improved with the passage of time?
Dear God, is there anyone of substantial or even marginal rank in the RBPD that is even remotely competent?
Dear Veritas,
Yes there are nice police officers in Red Bank. A couple of times they have even personally rescued me from some bad situations in my earthly disguise many years ago. Thank you.
God,
Yes, there is entirely too much bickering about petty things. It is Don Camillo and Peppone all over again. One strikes out, the other strikes back. Ever-present vigilance is clearly needed. Do you think a squad of Gods-in-training would help? Some members of the Red Bank police department might volunteer.

Glad to hear as much, "God." That said, it's rather a shame, I think, that the RBPD is rather selective in deciding precisely whom they will protect. To wit: If you're 23, white, female, have nice cleavage and you just happen to be coming out of Ashes at 1:30 AM, then I would submit that you are probably pretty safe. If, however, you have the misfortune of living on the west side of Red Bank and you are just an ordinary taxpayer, then I would submit that you are, most likely, pretty much on your own. Moreover, if your attacker is black, I wouldn't expect much in the way of courage from Red Bank's "finest." They've demonstrated as much during the hip-hop riot in front of Chubby's only a few weeks ago.
Dear Veritas,
You are very mistaken in your assumptions. Thank you.
