Red Bank Police confirm that there was a shooting late last night at Montgomery Terrace, a borough-owned, subsidized housing complex on Tilton Avenue.
But the only information we’ve been able to learn is that the victim, whose name and gender we don’t know, was left with life-threatening injuries and was still alive early this afternoon.
A nearby resident tells us his wife heard three shots at around 11:30p, but we’ve been unable to get a confirmation on that.
The police are referring all inquiries to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office, and we’re waiting to hear back from them.
redbankgreen visited the complex early this afternoon but found no signs of a shooting or police activity. We spoke to several neighbors who declined to discuss the matter. Members of a demolition work crew on the scene said they were unaware that a shooting had taken place.
We’ll post a story as soon as we’ve got the info.

WOW
HMMMM How many shootings on the east side of town has there been. Evening out the tax rates is fine if we could live the same way. On the eastside of town you can sit on your porch or take a walk around the block CAN YOU DO THIS ON THE WEST SIDE HELL NO.Its only gonna get worse. Its time to wakeup and do something
why cant you sit on a portch on the west side. I do it all the time and no i dont live on the west side i actually prefer to be there because on the west side people have something called respect for other people they arent stuck up people sitting behind there computers like u who only know some of the bad stuff that happens so sit down and shut up.
RB
I have lived in Red Bank for 46 years i lived on the eastside for 23 years so I know what I am talking about. If you reveal your self i will too. And I would like to invite you to my house to sit on my porch and see what i go through everyday maybe you will wakeup.
RB
ARE YOU KIDDING…DO YOU LIVE WITH YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND…WAKE UP….THE WESTSIDE IS A HOT SPOT. ITS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN…READ THE PAPER ….I LIVE ON THE EAST SIDE AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE PEOPLE ON THE WESTSIDE TAXES HAVE GONE UP IN SOME CASES DOUBLED. I WOULDN'T WANT TO LIVE THERE…..EVERYTIME YOU GO OUT OF YOUR DOOR YOU HAVE TO WORRY SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOU OR TO YOUR CHILDREN. PLEASE WAKE UP..I HOPE THIS SHOOTING ALERTS EVERYONE THAT SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE.
I think that both of the people who are arguing about which side is better whether it is east or west just need to be quiet. Both of you are showing why no side is better and why this town will only get worse. I am tired of hearing people make comments about what's wrong but not doing anything to make the situation better. I have lived on both sides of Red Bank and find nothing wrong with either. I am not more afraid just because I live on the west side or less afraid because I live on the east side. Violence is everywhere around us. You either do something about it or shut up.

1 question for you do you have Kids and if you do tell me if your kids would be safer walking down spring st or Leighton ave at night. Answer that question first then I will have more
why would i come to ur house when im in the streets on the westside almost every night its not as scary and bad as everyone thinks. There are normal kids playing in the streets people just hanging out so yea theres fights and shootings but it shouldnt make u scared to go there.
idk who posted it but i would honestly rather walk on leighton then walk down some of the streets near me on the east side most people on the east are stuck up racist's that send there kids to rbc and all white school's. On the west side there can be problems but its not like they are every night calm down and go to the west side once or twice and if u live there look outside for once and stop reading the paper its not that bad dam.
rb
I see now you are ether a drug attack or a drug dealer or maybe you have overcrowded rentals or maybe even have picked up a hooker a few times as I can see from your messages you are a loser
yea im actually niether of them ur the loser who sits behind the computer all night i go on here when there are only intresting things that i know about not upscale shit like tiffany coming to red bank and stuff going on at garmany the biggest waste's in red bank. Get ur shit right and stop being afraid of the west side
Hold your horses, not all people who live in West side are drug dealers. I work and have a family in west side. I walk my dog at night and am not afraid to walk on the west. Violence is everywhere. West side people are down to earth and human.

exactly what richard said
It amazes me how people are still bickering over who has the most crime on their side of town. Obviously, there is crime period in RB, doesn't matter which side. The point is that it exists. It's not the town itself, it's about the people who visit the town. I've lived in RB all of my life, on the west side and never experienced anything such as this. We as people need to come together and try to solve this issues instead of placing blame between two sides of a town which is one in the same. Who's the adults here?
Yes, the people on the east side can sit in their homes and think nothing goes on but there are many overdoses that are not discussed…Who are we kidding here?
lynn what are u talking about over doses we are talkinb about shootins
Hi All,
"The all mighty dollar strikes again"
It's true this is an example of "major crime" in our little town. It is however one of two reported shootings in 18 months.
Statistically speaking, Red Bank is below the national average with regards to "major crime" per capita.
On the other hand Red Bank is at the national average when it comes to felony criminal activity per capita.
Whereas Red Bank used to be below the national crime rate in the United States of America.
Why the change?
We are a little town in a crowded state and part of a great country, as such we are also experiencing a growing symptom of our society which is the being fueled primarily by an economic recession on ALL LEVELS.
Remember, everyone is susceptible to desperation.
Who got shot and why?
Was it drugs, gang, passion, disgruntled employee, car deal gone bad???
Only the shooter knows why the victims were shot.
I'll bet this, money and the lack of it had something to do with it in someway….someone, somehow got shorted in someway and someone got shot.
Yes, someone got shot, the only fact in this latest "Red Bank Bang Scream" pile of posts.
The "common thread" is "EVERYONE WANTS CHANGE ! HARUMPH,HARUMPH,HARUMPH!!"
Again I say, it is up to us, THE PEOPLE to make the change. It is our right and duty to do so.
Yes, we all want our own private patrolmen/women watching over our neighborhoods.
That luxury comes at a price.
Until we, as a town, choose to take real action to remedy our concerns be it through more effective $pending of our tax dollar$ or to permit a tax increase to $upport more patrol$ or maybe make an effort to remedy the ever growing "non tax paying - tax exhausting" element, then we are an empty voice here and have to except what happens in our little town.
Where to start?
At the top, always.
Mr. Mayor, Chief, Elected Council Members will you join us?
I'll see you at the town meeting.
Wherever, whenever that is.
Please advise.
Again I ask …..
When does a vine stop growing?
*Answer correctly and we will all be better*
Shecky
First and foremost, I would like to offer my prayers for both families involved. This incident has destroyed TWO families! Yes, the offenders will be caught, but this like all other violent crimes are preventable! There were signs of escalation with the first shooting. Three strikes later, now we have blood shed in RB. Our youth are the targets of each other! Why?
Lord forbid, Red Bank as a whole, put all of our resources together and create a community center that can provide the necessary tools that children need to assist them in preventative measures. I’m sure the 50 minutes of social studies they receive in school is more than enough to walk them home and entertain them every day! From, this point forward, if anymore of our babies succumb the violence that is an open playground right outside of their doors, we as community have ourselves to blame!
TINA STONE
The "community" isn't to blame, Ms. Stone, for the shootings that have taken place. The shooters are to blame, and to a lesser extent, so are the parents of those shooters.
You ought to be ashamed of yourself for suggesting that the lack of a community center is somehow responsible. Anthony Sims needed a father to be married to his mother a hell of a lot more than he needed some government-funded babysitter. Sims didn't need a social studies teacher to tell him that shooting someone is not an appropriate means of dispute resolution. He needed parents that worked hard, who stayed together and who, by their example, taught their son proper values. They failed their son and, as a result, society got yet another ghetto gang banger with a Glock eager to prove his manhood before heading off to spend decades in prison.
If you were really concerned about crime in Red Bank, you'd urge the city to tear down those public housing projects that only encourage immoral and irresponsible behavior, and which are little more than breeding grounds for our state prison system. In short, stop blaming others outside your "community" for the self-destructive culture that exists within your community.
Shecky, it isn't one of two in 18 months, i think that it may have been the fourth. I know of the one on the corner of river street, two i now believe at Montgomery terrace and one on spring street. Maybe that moved us up higher in the stats.
Tina, The com center perhaps could have saved Anthony (who I have met, and who was always polite and courteous), but then we will never now that will we. This young man now has a horrid path to walk (as do the victims and their families), and rather than speculate on what could have saved them all, lets all put some prayers together for them, and indeed ourselves to be saved from this rash of violence that now plagues us.
We have to start at home, teach them now before its to late.
