Today’s Star-Ledger says the shootings of two men at Montgomery Terrace Monday night does not appear to have been gang- or drug related, attributing that info to Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin.
An assistant prosecutor whom redbankgreen spoke to last night had declined all comment on the possible nature and circumstances of the crime. Valentin also declined to discuss a possible motive with the Ledger.
Authorities are also withholding the names of the victims, their hometowns, and the name of the hospital they’re in as part of an effort to protect them. The suspect, 19-year-old Anthony Sims, of both Red Bank and Eatontown, was still at large and believed to be “armed and dangerous,” Valentin said yesterday.
The identity of a third man Sims shot at but missed is also being withheld.
Assistant Prosecutor Peter Warshaw last night declined to comment on a report in the Asbury Park Press that the two victims are brothers.

SHOOTINGS NOT GANG- OR DRUG-RELATED
HOW THE HELL CAN THEY SAY THAT SO SOON
they can probably find out so soon because of witness's and the people that got shot telling them what happened dam dont be so quick to jump the gun
thats great news- things are looking up. wild wild west
If the prosecutors office is not discussing the motive and the police department is not releasing their names or what hospital they area at for their protection, well then it is obvious that it is gang and or drug related and that they are scared of retaliation.
GANG RELATED OR DRUG RELATED IT WAS SHOOTING. DANGEROUS TO ALL THE RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN. ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE TURNED IN THEIR GUNS FOR MONEY AND THE CRIMINALS OF COURSE KEPT THEM…GOOD ONE.
Hey guys, I am wondering why this guy's address is Red Bank and Eatontown.
Concerned
they guy is basically a "drifter" in a way he lives in red bank everyonce in a while and lives in eatontown some times as well he dosent stay in one place
Wow, what a bunch of silly armchair detectives.
Mr. Noname, you ask "how can they tell that so soon?" How about, the victims told investigators what happened. It's called interviewing the witness. The fastest growing category of shooting crimes is actually not drug or gang related killings, it's what criminologists call "interpersonal disputes." In other words, teenagers settling beefs with bullets.
Mr. Voice: Just because the prosecutor does not discuss a motive does not mean it's drug or gang related. The guy is building a case. Valentin is also one of the most tight-lipped prosecutors in the state, when it comes to public statements. That's his style. You are clearly clueless both about law enforcement and the personalities involved. Let the cops do their thing.
thank god for you bfrank- you are always on top of whats going. what would this town do without you. you are amazing- you should be in office. you are like our little batman- defending everyone.
thank you that is just was i said before they asked asked the witnesses and the actual people that were shot
Tune in next time! Same bat time! Same bat channel!
Ok I am sorry for jumping to things maybe he was shooting because they stole some candy from him or maybe he just wanted to shoot someone or maybe he needed a place to stay or maybe the devil mad him do it. He didnt shoot them the gun did thats how it must of been. BFRANK and RB time to (((WAKE UP)))
ur an idiot
Hi All,
"The all mighty dollar strikes again"
It's true this is an example of "major crime" in our little town. It is however one of two reported shootings in 18 months.
Statistically speaking, Red Bank is below the national average with regards to "major crime" per capita.
On the other hand Red Bank is at the national average when it comes to felony criminal activity per capita.
Whereas Red Bank used to be below the national crime rate in the United States of America.
Why the change?
We are a little town in a crowded state and part of a great country, as such we are also experiencing a growing symptom of our society which is the being fueled primarily by an economic recession on ALL LEVELS.
Remember, everyone is susceptible to desperation.
Who got shot and why?
Was it drugs, gang, passion, disgruntled employee, car deal gone bad???
Only the shooter knows why the victims were shot.
I'll bet this, money and the lack of it had something to do with it in someway….someone, somehow got shorted in someway and someone got shot.
Yes, someone got shot, the only fact in this latest "Red Bank Bang Scream" pile of posts.
The "common thread" is "EVERYONE WANTS CHANGE ! HARUMPH,HARUMPH,HARUMPH!!"
Again I say, it is up to us, THE PEOPLE to make the change. It is our right and duty to do so.
Yes, we all want our own private patrolmen/women watching over our neighborhoods.
That luxury comes at a price.
Until we, as a town, choose to take real action to remedy our concerns be it through more effective $pending of our tax dollar$ or to permit a tax increase to $upport more patrol$ or maybe make an effort to remedy the ever growing "non tax paying - tax exhausting" element, then we are an empty voice here and have to except what happens in our little town.
Where to start?
At the top, always.
Mr. Mayor, Chief, Elected Council Members will you join us?
I'll see you at the town meeting.
Wherever, whenever that is.
Please advise.
Again I ask …..
When does a vine stop growing?
*Answer correctly and we will all be better*
Happy Holidays =)~
Shecky
First and foremost, I would like to offer my prayers for both families involved. This incident has destroyed TWO families! Yes, the offenders will be caught, but this like all other violent crimes are preventable! There were signs of escalation with the first shooting. Three strikes later, now we have blood shed in RB. Our youth are the targets of each other! Why?
Lord forbid, Red Bank as a whole, put all of our resources together and create a community center that can provide the necessary tools that children need to assist them in preventative measures. I’m sure the 50 minutes of social studies they receive in school is more than enough to walk them home and entertain them every day! From, this point forward, if anymore of our babies succumb the violence that is an open playground right outside of their doors, we as community have ourselves to blame!
