TONIGHT: Jazz at the Red Bank Woman’s Club

Mike Barris, Jerry Topinka, Tom Bender and Jennifer Wright salute pre-war jazz greats as part of the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation’s “Reckless Steamy Nights” concert series at the Woman’s Club of Red Bank.

The program includes signature tunes of Django Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith and Bunny Berigan, as well as many others. If you couldn’t make it to the show in the last two years, here’s another opportunity to be part of an enthralling tribute to the stars of early jazz and blues.

Music goes from 8-11p. A donation of $10 is suggested in support of scholarship programs sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Red Bank and the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation. Snacks will be provided.

TOMORROW: Fair Haven nature area clean-up

Work out the winter kinks in a community effort to maintain and enhance the micro-wilderness at Fair Haven Fields Nature Area. Work gloves and work shoes required; pruning shears come in handy. Work is not suitable for small children.

SATURDAY, APRIL 5: Clean Ocean Action winter flounder tournament

Registration is free for this event, which follows a 9a blessing of the waters and continental breakfast at Bahrs Landing, 2 Bay Avenue, Highlands.

From 3 to 5p, there will be children’s games, and at 5p, an awards ceremony. Flounders must measure 12 inches for weigh-in eligibility, and the possession limit is 10.

SUNDAY, APRIL 6: Pancakes with the Scouts

The 5th Annual “Scouts Fight Cancer” Pancake Breakfast will be held from 8a to 12noon at the Fair Haven Fire House. All proceeds to benefit The Walsh Family Charitable Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

The breakfast is sponsored by Cub Scouts Pack #127, Fair Haven Webelos. The cost is $7 per adult and $5 per child. For more info, call Paul at 732.530.0034.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16: Fundraiser for Kidz Kare

The Salt Creek Grille holds its 10th annual wine and martini from 7 to 10p to benefit Kidz Kare.
