The 2007 closing blasts, that is.
Brace yourselves for a bit of window-rattling pyrotechnics over the Navesink tonight.
Better yet, leave the sofa and television behind for a couple of hours and see for yourself as the night sky blooms in crackling colors.
In case you haven’t heard, tonight’s the annual KaBoom Fireworks on the Navesink fundraiser, held at the Monmouth Boat Club.
The goal is to offset as much of the $175,000 annual cost as possible. The July 3 spectacular, which typically draws 150,000 people into Red Bank, gets no public funding; it’s all paid for from donated funds.
The three-hour event, which kicks off at 6p, culminates with a coming-attractions display of fireworks at 8:15p by Garden State Fireworks.
Before and after, there’s a sumptuous smorgasbord on offer, with culinary creations from Danny’s Steakhouse, Red, Gaetano’s, Osteria Dante, The Bistro, Dish, Siena Grille, Foodtown, The Windmill, Teak, Basil T’s, Sogo Sushi, Melting Pot and Blackwell’s Organic.
Tix are $100 per person, which includes open bar, live music and primo viewing of the fireworks.
The weather forecast for tonight, courtesy of the National Weather Service:
Clear, with a low around 42. South wind around 7 mph becoming north.
Just a bit of a nip, in other words.

Cancel the Fireworks. This town cannot handle this type of event anymore. If you do have them close the bars at 900 before the fireworks go off. Too many people, too much alcohol, too much trouble.
Lighten up!! The fireworks are a great tradition in Red Bank. Yeah, people get drunk and become rowdy. It's The 4th of July!!! Summer fun! If you don't like it, leave for the night. Stop being the grumpy old man yelling at the kiddies for walking on the lawn.
