Red Bank police are investigating a report of an assault on a 15-year-old boy on Marion Street Monday evening.

According to Chief Mark Fitzgerald, the victim, who had been rollerblading on the basketball court at East Side Park, was skating home when he was approached by a car that had previously driven by.
A passenger, described as an Hispanic male of about 18, approached the victim, “apparently under the impression that the victim had made an obscene gesture” at the car’s occupants as they drove by the first time, Fitzgerald said.
“There was some pushing and shoving, and the kid on rollerblades was struck and knocked down,” Fitzgerald said.
When another vehicle came down the street, the assailant got back in the car, described as light green four-door sedan driven by a blonde female. The car fled the scene, Fitzgerald said.
Police are treating the matter as a simple assault case, Fitzgerald said. Anyone who might have witnessed the encounter is asked to contact the detective division at 732.530.2719 or the anonymous tip line at 732.450.9704.

I just want to warn all roller-bladers to stay off of Waverly Place. The pot-holes are more dangerous than any 18 year old Hispanic male that you may flick-off. When I put on my jean shorts and lace up my roller blades, I like to go over to Irving. The street is very wide, not to mention as smooth as a baby's ass.
I hope you choose your route to Irving carefully. Skating is banned on Broad. I'm not sure about the stretch of Maple from Waverly to Irving. Maybe you'd better lace up after you get to Irving.
