Talk about a waste of taxpayers money. Put a better fence up around the area where the monument is located at now and there wouldn't be a problem. Everything always given to the fire department as usual. It's all fun and games until your taxes go up, again. Hey are we still getting another million dollar fire truck so the hook & ladder boys car drive around and waste gas. Im sure….More to come.
Waste,
If you had any clue you would know that the department has done this with donations. Not a single dime was taken from the taxpayers for this project. Check your facts before putting lies out there.
Patrick McSorley Ex-Chief 2007
So at chestnut street we have three supervisors who have been with the Public works department for a combined 60 years give or take a year or two. Three supervisors that are well schooled in the running of Public works (certified)?, and who basically know the ins and outs of this town and their fellow employees like no man. They are obviously competent in there positions as they have been there so long. and all one would imagine are vested in the pension fund and are possibly topped out in regards to salary. My question to the Borough, Mr. Sickles, Mayor and council is this…Why can we not move one of these gentlemen into the running of the parking department and then have one of them run public works? The savings are quite considerable as we would saving over $80,000 from Mr. Watson's salary (and this is by no means a slap at him), but he only came back as an interim and is truly not needed down there.
Just a thought
The re location of the monument is a splended idea, at least the punks in town wont ruin it this time
I like the idea of the monument being located at town hall. As i type here they are installing it I think it should be permanent! It seems to me to be a much higher profile location. It also takes some of the tackieness of the pink stucco building we call borough hall away.
It's always something with the fire department. Talk about a waste, what did you really do for the town over your three years. Go collect some more money for your donations.
WOW "waste" you are really off base……I am not affiliated with the fire co Why would anyone trash them like that. I think you have a mental problem…seek help! These guys respond 24-7 for no money, have to be trained and every time they react to a fire they risk their lives. They interrupt family gatherings, significant events in their lives, and their business to protect us from fires and many other emergencies. I know I just gave you attention. I hope this ends it and nobody else comments on your niandrotholic swill
Waste,
What is your beef with the fire department? It seems that anytime you get the opportunity to bash the FD you jump at it. Where did you get your million dollar price tag for a new fire truck? I don't remember it coming up at any council meeting.
But, going with your million dollar price tag, would you have an issue if, let's say for arguments sake, public works needed to purchase something for one million dollars? Is it the assumed price tag or the department you have a problem with?
If you listen to other towns, or Monmouth County Dispatchers, you will hear many fire departments and first aid squads being dispatched mulitple times. Regularly there are tows where it takes 30 minutes for an ambulance to respond. Fire departments are dispatched multiple times without any trucks responding to the calls. A lot of these calls are for alarms, but there are often times when it is a smoke condition or an actual fire, and no one is coming for a while.
Red Bank has a good department. Paid or volunteer, the equipment will still need to get purchased and things will still need to get replaced. If it were a paid department saying that a piece of apparatus needs to be replaced, would that be ok?
As far as the fence around the monument in Marine Park, I don't think it's the quality of fence as muich as it the quantity of vandalism that takes place. You could put a 10' tall steel fence around it, and the vandalism will still occur.
Locked doors only keep out honest people. If there is a will there is a way. You build a bigger, better fence, they will figure out a way to get around it.
Waste,
I would love to tell you the time I took away from my family and friends to be the Fire Chief. It is a responsibility that is extremely daunting. I was in charge of every day to day operation, including but not limited to fire anf First Aid calls, paperwork(state mandated, borough mandated, department mandated, Budget, ETC.) more meetings then you can shake a stick or finger at, and every thing that comes with dealing with a multitude of personalities. I did the best job that I could and stand behind every decision. My deputies and I were responsible for using our budget to the best of our abilities and making sure that the best department in monmouth county continued to be. Every vehicle was serviced and all testing completed per our department regs and state mandates. I may have not done anything major, but with the help of my deputies and the ex-chiefs, my years stayed on the staus quo. I would love the chance to talk to you in person and really show you what goes on behind the scenes. Please just sign your name or give and e-mail address and I will gladly speak with you one on one. But until you have walked a mile in my or any other chiefs shoes please keep our comments to yourself, because you really have know idea.
Patrick McSorley Chief RBFD 2007
Whoever it is on here that is bashing the Red Bank Fire Department is a complete scum bag. The RBFD is on call 24 hours a day 7 Days a week 365 Days a Year. They are Volunteers and save lives every year and this is a great thing being done and it is being done with donations from great people.
