A flock of sparrows took shelter beneath a car parked on Broad Street in Red Bank Friday afternoon. What do they know that we don't?
The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in effect for the Red Bank region from 7a to midnight Saturday.
What's that mean? From the NWS:
STEADIER & HEAVIER DURING THE AFTERNOON. SLEET. FREEZING RAIN
AND RAIN SHOULD MIX IN WITH THE SNOW TOWARD EVENING.ESPECIALLY
CLOSER TO THE COAST. A WINTRY MIX OF RAIN. SLEET.FREEZING
RAIN & SNOW SHOULD OCCUR DURING THE EVENING BEFORE PRECIPITATION
CHANGES BACK TO SNOW BEFORE ENDING.
FINAL SNOW & SLEET ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD AVERAGE BETWEEN 2 AND 5 INCHES WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WELL INLAND.
THERE IS SOMEUNCERTAINTY AS TO HOW QUICKLY OR HOW MUCH A CHANGEOVER WILL OCCUR AND AMOUNTS MIGHT HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED WITH LATER FORECASTS. FOR MOST AREAS THIS SHOULD BE A PLOWABLE SNOW.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT DRIVING WILL BECOME MORE DIFFICULT AND
HAZARDOUS AS SAT CONTINUES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL. PLEASE GIVE
YOURSELF EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION & LEAVE PLENTY OF
SPACE BETWEEN YOURSELF & THE VEHICLES AROUND. HEAVIER SNOW
SHOULD FALL IN PLACES TO THE NORTHWEST.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW.SLEET.OR
FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR
SLIPPERY ROADS & LIMITED VISIBILITIES.& USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.

That photo made me gasp! I hope the car didn't back up.
Good luck with tomorrow's weather. I miss the snow, but sleet's no fun. Guess that's why I stayed in California.
I'm guessing that if sparrows can sense snow they'll figure out that the car has started and is backing up.
do you think this will satisfy RB's low income housing requirements?
Too cute! I love The Bird Show!
low income thats a Jaguar! anynoe for sparrow pancakes?
….on a follow up story, the bird did receive a $37 dollar parking ticket…
