About a dozen Red Bank adults and their children turned out for a site cleanup organized by board of education member Carrie Ludwikowski at the Red Bank Primary School last Saturday.

Just chiming in on the fate of the turtle. We did not release into the wetlands as stated but into a wooded area which box turtles seem to prefer. They are amazingly versatile animals and live in a wide variety of habitats from wooded swamps to dry, grassy fields. They like to venture into shallow water and puddles but are land turtles. They have a natural homing instinct which will cause them to try to return to their place of birth when moved so our hope is that he chooses a safer route back home than crossing the parkway again and we took that into consideration when placing him back into the wild.
