Installation work is done. Just waiting for the cable guy, er, the utility company. (Click to enlarge)
What’s with the new traffic lights that are supposed to smooth the flow of traffic past the Red Bank bottleneck of Maple Avenue/Route 35, Water, White and West Front Streets?
State Department of Transportation contractors appear to have cleared out after the installation of new traffic signals. But the black plastic covering remains on the lights.
DOT spokesman Tim Greeley tells redbankgreen, via email:
The new traffic signals are installed and the DOT work is essentially complete. The final step in this process is an electrical connection to the West Front Street signal controller. We are currently working with the electrical utility contractor to have this connection made as soon as possible.

Thanks for the update John! You would think a traffic light on a State Highway wouldn’t take so many months to complete. There’s more confusion among drivers now then when there was no light at all. From my store I hear brakes screeching and horns blowing all day long now.
Stan Sickels, RB Borough Administrator has publicly stated that this construction co.was going to rehab the parking lot at the foot of Maple Ave. when their work was finished, due to the fact that RB let them use the site( which was then and still is an encumbered un-funded park that is listed on the GreenAcres Recreation & Open Space List), as a staging area for their construction work. When a property is on the ROSI (Recreation & Open Space Inventory List, the property can only be used for conservation & recreational puropses.
If you don’t like the direction that Red Bank is going in check out change.
