Red Bank police today issued this sketch of a man wanted in connection with a Branch Avenue burglary committed earlier this week. (Click photo to enlarge)
A 20-year-old resident of the house had his hands tied with clothing shortly after encountering the burglar in the break-in, which occurred at 7:40a on Tuesday. The resident managed to get free and scuffled with the burglar, who fled when the victim’s mother returned home and screamed, according to police.
Neither the young man nor his mother was injured, police said.
The suspect is described as a heavyset African-American man in a brown leather jacket and a brown knit cap with a brim. He is believed to have gotten away in a tan sedan, which had been parked on the opposite side of Branch Avenue, facing south. The car, which had out-of-state-license plate, possibly from Pennsylvania, headed south, police said.
Authorities ask that anyone with information regarding the incident or suspect contact Inv. Juan Sardo at 732.530.2719 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 732.450.9704.
