A Fair Haven girl is recovering from injuries sustained when she was struck by a car while crossing River Road Friday night, police said Monday.
The 16-year-old victim, who was not identified, was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune for treatment after the accident, which occurred at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Maple Avenue, said Detective Jesse Dykstra.
No summonses were issued against the driver of the vehicle, Frederick Shipton, 58, Fair Haven, who was heading westbound at the time of the accident, Dykstra said.
“It looks like she just wasn’t paying attention,” Dykstra said of the girl.
Dykstra said the victim was stable and expected to make a full recovery. She remained hospitalized Saturday, the latest day for which information was available, he said.

they took her to Jersey Shore Medical Center and not Riverview right up the road?
Jersey Shore is a trauma center. Although the view at Riverview is superior, Jersey Shore is where you want to be taken with serious injuries.
Prayers for her tonight, hoping for a full recovery.
JSMC is a trauma center if things get tough they can fly you out of there besides being extremely capable they know when they need help and will get u to that place.
