Ledger Live‘s Brian Donohue, a Red Bank resident, thinks his property taxes are a pretty good bargain, considering what they buy him.
“When you really break it down, property taxes are a lot less of a ripoff than a lot of other things you pay for,” Donohue says in his latest online video essay, shot in and around Red Bank. He cites borough trash collection, fire protection, schools that educate his two children at the rate of about $2 an hour and a police department that responds even to squirrel-in-the-attic calls.
And compared to some private-sector services, such as home and auto repair, and banking fees, the taxes start to seem like “a decent bang for my buck,” Donohue says.
Have at it, folks. That Snuggie is fair game, too.
