Injuries suffered by a pedestrian near the Little Silver train station Saturday afternoon do not appear to be serious, police said.
Still, shortly before 6 p.m. traffic was being diverted around the scene of the 3:22 accident as members of the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response team continued their investigation, Detective Greg Oliva tells redbankgreen.

On 12/15/2012 at 3:22 PM., Kenneth Sorensen, 66 years old of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was struck by a Volvo Station wagon being operated by Margarete Rice, 86 years old of Ocean Township, NJ. Sorensen was crossing Branch Avenue at the Sycamore Avenue intersection from the Train Station when he was struck. Rice was turning left from Sycamore Avenue onto Branch Avenue at the time of the accident. Sorensen was treated on scene by Little Silver EMS and MONOC Paramedics and transported to Jersey Shore Trauma Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. The accident is being investigated by the Little Silver Police Dept. Traffic Safety Unit, as well as the Monmouth County SCART team.
