Last week’s photo showed a paint-store sign on what appeared to be the back of a multistory building. Fourteen readers submitted a number of different answers.
They included:
“Bain’s hardware store, Sea Bright”
“The rear of the old love lane store off west front street.”
“…the area of English Plaza behind like where Fire house Specialty shop was but if your looking towards front st????”
“…that back parking lot behind Jack’s music shoppe.”
“Behind the buildings on the corner of Broad and Front. Where the alley is with the specialty grocer is”
Along with others who identified it various ways, Kevin Chieff got it right:
Well, if you’re in Fixx, and a fight breaks out and you run out the SIDE door and look up, you’ll see that view – the sign was never taken down when the paint store moved from Front Street to the Bed, Bath & Beyond corner on Rt 35N in Middletown. I’d guess you were on Boat Club Court when you took the picture.
The image above shows last week’s photo updated with a paint-stirrer stick found in the basement of redbankgreen HQ. As you can see on the stick, the store was located at 14 West Front in Red Bank, now home to Lucky Break Billiards, which reopened last week after a two-month shutdown over a bureaucratic nightmare.
