Press release from Kick Dance Studios
Families from across Monmouth County are invited to attend Kick Dance Studio’s Annual Kick for a Cause Performance, “Dress for MS” on Sunday, February 23rd, with four performances (12 pm, 1:15 pm, 2:30 pm, 3:45) at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School.
For six years, Kick Dance Studios has been hosting Kick for a Cause Performances to benefit various charities, inspired by their students and families. This year, the group chose to donate all ticket sales to the National MS Society as a show of support for a mother of one of its dance team students who has been stricken with MS, a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system. With the help of organizations like the National MS Society, new treatments and advances in research can give hope to people affected by the disease.
“It’s heartbreaking to see such an amazing woman struggle to move around and just be a mom each day because of MS,” said Vanessa Berry, Owner, Kick Dance Studios, Fair Haven and Rumson. “But even so, she still keeps a positive attitude and always has a smile on her face, which is why she is truly an inspiration to all of us. We will show her support any way that we can.”
Berry’s goal is to raise $15,000 for the National MS Society from both “Dress for MS” and the annual charity dance competition, “The Power of Dance.” Last year, Kick raised $10,000 for Monmouth Beach Elementary to assist with its rebuilding efforts post Sandy.
More than 175 boys and girls, ages 4 -18, both dancers and acrobats from the Kick Dance Studios in Fair Haven and Rumson, will showcase their talents during a variety of ballet, tap, hip hop, contemporary and Broadway-style performances. General admission is $15 per adult/child with tickets sold at the door and online at www.tututix.com.
