Superstar interior decorator Mario Buatta stops into the greater Green for Tea this Friday, in a fundraiser for Rumson’s Oceanic Free Public Library.
His notable projects have included the Presidential guest residence at Blair House; sprawling estates for captains of industry and major popstar royalty; the 98-room Beaux Arts behemoth Carolands in California. His name carries such heft in design circles that he sets tongues a-cluck for the things that he hasn’t done, even more than for what he has. But when superstar interior decorator Mario Buatta visits Rumson on Friday, May 2, he’ll be hard at work on one of the more challenging projects to cross his desk of late, even while enjoying An Afternoon Tea in the presence of a group of appreciative supporters. Going on at Rumson Country Club, the event’s a benefit for the Oceanic Free Library; specifically the “Raise the Roof!” capital campaign funding some needed refurbishments and refreshments of the venerable borough landmark’s building at Ridge Road and Avenue of Two Rivers.
The man who’s variously known as The Prince of Chintz, or The King of Chintz (depending on the particular profile you’re reading) takes tea between the hours of 3:30 and 5:30 pm; tickets are a quite reasonable $40 per person, and can be reserved by calling (732)842-2692, or via PayPal right here.
