morsels smallA horde of moviegoers filled the public beach in Sea Bright with assorted lawn chairs and blankets Sunday night. The occasion: the annual Shore Flicks showing of “Jaws,” which was rained out last year.

Keeping in the theme of the evening, dinner before the movie had to be seafood at Yumi on Ocean Avenue.

The beauty of dining in a beach town is that no matter how elegant the restaurant is – and Yumi is decorated in a stylish, upscale manner – there will be plenty of people wearing swim attire and flipflops.

Although the restaurant was busy, we didn’t have to wait very long for our order; the sushi bar was turning out dishes at a fast pace. The Sea Bright roll ($15) is packed with fresh fish: tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and the special touches that bring home the big flavors  – cucumber, avocado, and fish roe. It is the Japanese mayo, though, that gave this sushi roll an extra tangy zing.

Yumi was the perfect choice for our beach-themed evening, but the uncommon choices on the menu, the professional service and the fresh flavors are what will bring us back again.
