RED BANK: DWI CHARGED AFTER CRASH

An Ocean County woman was charged with drunken driving after an accident in which her car hit two others Thursday night, Red Bank police said. Joyce Jeffers, 39, of Beachwood was heading south on Branch Avenue at 10:48 p.m. when she swerved and struck a car stopped on East Bergen Place, said Captain Darren McConnell.

RUMSON MAN HURT IN MIDDLETOWN CRASH

A Rumson man was helicoptered to a trauma center after his car struck a tree on Navesink River Road in Middletown Monday evening. Frank Caccavo, Jr., 54 remained hospitalized at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune with unspecified injuries after a 45-minute extrication from the wreck by emergency personnel.

CAB DRIVER IN RECENT CRASH FOUND DEAD

The taxicab driver charged with drunken driving after a collision in Lincroft a week ago was found dead in his Red Bank apartment Monday morning, borough police said. LINCROFT FIRE INJURES HOMEOWNER, 81

An 81-year-old Lincroft man was burned in a fire started when he was doing plumbing work with a torch, police said Wednesday. The fire, at 6 Rimwood Drive, reported at about 10:45, started when homeowner Lawrence Fagel was sweating pipes in a bathroom, according to Middletown police spokesman Lieutenant Detective Steve Dollinger.
