SANDY HOOK: STUDENT & FAMILY BIO-BLITZ
September 29, 2017, 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate in the annual BioBlitz project, taking place within Gateway National Recreation Area’s Sandy Hook Unit on September 29 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to students and their family members.
Volunteers can take part in field studies focused on such things as marine plants and birds, or work at base camp helping with registration, food preparation, GIS and photography.
The BioBlitz itself is a biological inventory that gives volunteers an opportunity to work alongside scientists and expert naturalists, to find and identify as many species as possible over a short time period. It is an opportunity to increase awareness of the diversity of organisms that exist within Sandy Hook.
For additional information, contact Littoral Society Education Director Lindsay Weil (Lindsay@littoralsociety.org). The event is sponsored by the OceanFirst Foundation.
