DESCRIPTION:The United Methodist Church of Red Bank will host “Bearing Witness\,” a tabletop display containing soil collected from the Eatontown site where Samuel “Mingo Jack” Johnson was lynched in 1886. \nIn partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery\, Alabama\, the New Jersey Social Justice Remembrance Coalition asks viewers to join in bearing witness to this personal and community tragedy\, and to reflect on actions we can take today to end the ongoing legacy of racial violence and inequality. \nThe unveiling ceremony will take place June 18 at 11 a.m. A discussion of the project will follow the worship service on Sunday\, June 5 at 11:15 a.m.

It provides 12 hours of instruction each week\, with classes on Monday\, Tuesday\, Wednesday\, and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. \nThe program\, along with the library’s job assistance (one-on-one tutoring\, GED prep\, mock interviews and more)\, is available to anyone\, regardless of whether they have a library card. \nRegister for it here. \nThe lab is funded by a grant by the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences and the New Jersey State Library.
