SUMMARY:FREE PIANO TRIO CONCERT
DESCRIPTION:Musical Transformations: Spark to Stillness\, Form to Passion \nThe Red Bank Chamber Music Society presents the Hermitage Piano Trio in a program that explores how music reshapes emotion—turning passion into reflection\, folklore into art\, and virtuosity into pure expression. \nIt begins with Mikhail Glinka’s Trio Pathétique\, where Italianate grace meets Russian ardor in a surge of youthful Romanticism. Elena Kats-Chernin’s Blue Silence turns inward—a haunting meditation on fragility and recovery\, its quiet pulsations suspended in still air. \nJosef Suk’s Piano Trio in C minor follows with radiant lyricism and optimism\, written when the composer was just seventeen. The Trio then ignites the rhythmic brilliance of Manuel de Falla’s Suite Populaire Espagnole\, transforming folk melodies into vivid miniature dramas. \nThe concert closes with Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 3—a tightly coiled masterpiece of intensity and poise\, where every note feels carved from emotion itself. \nWHERE: Trinity Episcopal Church Auditorium 50 White Street\, Red Bank\, NJ\nWHEN: Sunday\, November 16\, 2025\, at 4:30 PM (Doors open at 4:00 PM) \nABOUT THE HERMITAGE PIANO TRIO: Now entering its second decade\, the Hermitage Piano Trio has earned international acclaim for performances of “such power and sweeping passion that [they] leave you nearly out of breath” (The Washington Post). Violinist Misha Keylin\, cellist Sergey Antonov\, and pianist Ilya Kazantsev—each an award-winning soloist—combine precision and expressive depth in performances that have garnered multiple GRAMMY® nominations. \nThe Trio’s acclaimed recordings on Reference Recordings\, including Rachmaninoff and Spanish Impressions\, have been praised by Gramophone for “impeccably dovetailed phrasing and hair-trigger rhythmic unanimity.” Their next album\, Dvořák’s Circle\, will be released in early 2026. \nABOUT THE RED BANK CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY: The Red Bank Chamber Music Society is a non-profit organization presenting world-class chamber music concerts for the benefit of the community. We offer performances of the highest professional caliber—at no cost to members—and encourage audiences of all ages\, especially students and families\, to experience the intimacy and inspiration of live chamber music. All programs are funded entirely by member donations.\nFor membership information or to donate\, please visit www.rbcms.org \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Follow Red Bank Green on Instagram\n @redbankgreen\n \n \n Follow

SUMMARY:Red Bank Chamber Music Society presents the Catalyst Quartet in FREE Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Catalyst Quartet opens the Red Bank Chamber Music Society’s new season with Against All Odds\, a program that celebrates resilience and artistic brilliance in the face of adversity. From the elegance of Joseph Bologne\, Chevalier de Saint-Georges—an 18th-century virtuoso who rose to prominence despite racial barriers—to the luminous spirituality of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz\, the quiet strength of Florence Price\, and the fusion of Persian and Western traditions in Aftab Darvishi’s Daughters of Sol\, each work affirms the enduring power of the human spirit. The program also features Jorge Amado Molina’s vivid Tríptico cubano and Toru Takemitsu’s haunting Autumn Leaves\, music born of both memory and transformation. \nThe concert culminates with Beethoven’s profound String Quartet No. 15 in A minor\, Op. 132\, written after his recovery from a near-fatal illness. Its central movement\, the “Holy Song of Thanksgiving\,” embodies both fragility and renewal\, offering a moving testament to resilience and hope. Taken together\, these works remind us that music not only survives against all odds—it transcends struggle to illuminate what is most deeply human. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Follow Red Bank Green on Instagram\n @redbankgreen\n \n \n Follow

SUMMARY:FREE CHAMBER MUSIC QUARTET CONCERT
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: The Red Bank Chamber Music Society proudly welcomes the Ulysses String Quartet as they return to perform an emotionally resonant concert featuring composers whose music re-imagine the traditions of the past\, especially those of Hungarian and Slavic folk music . This concert will take place on Sunday\, May 4\, 2025\, at 4:30 PM at the Trinity Church Auditorium in Red Bank\, NJ. \nThe concert is free of charge\, thanks to the generous donations of our membership and no tickets are required. \nOpening the program is Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 1 in C major\, Op. 49\, a youthful and spirited work filled with folk-inspired melodies and an undercurrent of emotional complexity that hints at the composer’s future brilliance. \nNext\, the quartet performs Max Richter’s haunting On The Nature of Daylight\, arranged by violinist Christina Bouey. This contemporary classic\, used frequency in cinematic soundtracks\, blends layered harmony with raw emotion\, offering a moment of introspective stillness and lyrical beauty. \nThe first half of the concert ends with two short pieces by Stephan Koncz — a re-imaging of Erik Satie’s beloved Gymnopédie No. 1\, punningly entitled A New Satiesfaction\, and a rollicking theme and variations on the famous Australian bush ballad Waltzing Matilda. \nAfter the intermission is Béla Bartók’s String Quartet No. 5\, a bold and intricate masterwork that showcases Bartók’s genius for fusing traditional Hungarian folk motifs with avant-garde compositional techniques. The work is both cerebral and visceral\, capturing the essence of an evolving national voice. \nRounding out the program is La Marche des Scythes by Royer\, in a vibrant arrangement by Bouey. Originally written for harpsichord\, this fiery baroque dance bursts with dramatic flair and rhythmic drive—an unexpected and energetic evocation of ancient Scythian warriors galloping across the Russian steppes. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Follow Red Bank Green on Instagram\n @redbankgreen\n \n \n Follow
