TWO INDICTED FOR RED BANK COP ASSAULTS

AUTHORITIES_RB2A Monmouth County grand jury handed down unrelated indictments this week of two men accused of assaulting Red Bank police officers.

According to documents provided by the county prosecutor’s office, Peter Mullen, 23, of Tallwood Lane in Lincroft, was indicted Wednesday on three counts of aggravated assault on police officers and one count of resisting arrest arising out of an incident on White Street on May 28.

ARRESTS MADE IN HOLDUP, BURGLARIES

call-in-the-authorities• On Wednesday, April 17, 2013 the Middletown Police Department Detective Bureau arrested Michael Crupi, age 35, from Linden Avenue in Middletown, NJ, for armed robbery of the Bevaquas’s Deli on March 25, 2013. Police say Crupi entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk. He then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Detective Laurence Schachtel of the Middletown Police Department conducted a lengthy investigation and was able to develop information linking Crupi to the robbery. Detective Schachtel was then contacted by New York City Police Detectives assigned to the 123 Precinct who had seen a suspect flyer sent out by Detective Schachtel. Crupi fit the description of a suspect who committed two armed robberies in Staten Island, one of a Game Stop Store and the other of a bakery.

MIDDLETOWN MAN BUSTED FOR PHONY CASH

call-in-the-authorities• Detective Daniel Sullivan arrested Brian Miller, age 21, from Walnut Avenue in Red Bank, NJ [EDITOR’S NOTE: This address, while in the 07701 Red Bank zip code, is actually in Middletown], for numerous counts of Theft by Deception as a result of a two month joint investigation conducted by the Middletown Police Department and the Trenton Office of the United States Secret Service into counterfeit twenty dollar bills that had been passed to numerous businesses throughout the area.

Police say Miller had passed the phony bills to businesses in Middletown, Holmdel, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven and Keansburg and had been charged by the police departments in those towns as well. He was released pending a court date.

Robbery occurring on 2-22-10 in the area of West Bergen Place. Victim reported that while walking, two black male subjects, possibly 18 to 19 years old, dressed in black wearing ski masks approached subject and demanded money. One of the subjects placed a sharp object against the victim’s chest and other subject struck the victim in the right side of head causing him to fall. Suspects took cash and fled the area. Ptl. The Asbury Park Press has some details on the police search for a burglary suspect redbankgreen reported on yesterday.

The newspaper says that the subject of the search, which involved a helicopter and police dogs, was a 26-year-old man wanted in Ocean County on outstanding warrants and who fled from Middletown police Wednesday.
