BASEBALL PAINTINGS EXHIBIT
“My baseball paintings are about the figures, light, space and imagined action of a ballgame. In them I work to focus and simplify the energy of the ballpark.
A lifelong baseball fan, Max Mason began painting baseball subjects at the University of Pennsylvania while pursuing his MFA. He was commissioned by the Philadelphia Phillies to paint three 10’x 30’ murals of Philadelphia baseball stadiums for Citizens Bank Park. He has had two one person shows of baseball paintings at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio. In 2010 he started The BallPark Project, an endeavor to paint large, dynamic, fan-oriented paintings of all 30 Major League Baseball ballparks. He blogs about his travels, the creation of the paintings and the ballparks themselves on his website. He is represented by the Gross McCleaf Gallery where he has shown his landscape, still life and baseball paintings since 1985. He has painted several murals for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg and the Penn Club in New York City.
In the main gallery space Mason will jury work by members on the theme We The People and From Deep Purple to Light Lavender.
An Artists’ Reception will be held Saturday, October 3rd from 6-8 PM. The public is invited to attend. The exhibition is on view until October 31st, Tuesday – Saturday, 12-4 PM. Free of charge. Art Alliance of Monmouth County, 33 Monmouth Street, Red Bank, NJ.

Membership in the Art Alliance is open to visual artists at any skill level and to art lovers. Membership fee is $50 per year, $25 for students with id. Benefits of membership include reduced entry fee for all exhibits ($10 per piece for up to 3 pieces for members; $15 per entery for non-members); affordable studio space; diverse classes and workshops; networking opportunities; the possibility of mounting an independent exhibit during the summer. In addition, the Art Alliance maintains a website, a bi-monthly newsletter, and a Facebook page.
