LENAPE STORYTELLERS EXHIBIT

January 4, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Durning the month of January The Art Alliance of Monmouth County will present works curated by Ty “Dancing Wolf” Ellis. These works feature a diverse collection of pieces created by Indigenous People who have followed the path referred to as the “Red Road,” a phrase used by Native Americans to describe a way of life that involves respecting others, the environment, and oneself, and avoiding substances that are harmful.

The works in this exhibit predominantly come from the minds and hands of those who are Lenape, the original caretakers of Lenapehoking, a territory which includes all of New Jersey. Other pieces are created by the Indigenous Youth adopted by one of the local tribal nations and State Recognized Tribes, coming from multiple cultural backgrounds, as well as work from sister nations that neighbor this territory.
Ellis asks us to “Please enjoy, as you experience our version of art, from traditional and historical pieces and methods to contemporary and modern ones; from a range of generations, all looking to tell their stories…”

An Artists’ Reception will be held Saturday, January 4th, from 6-8 PM. The public is invited to attend. The exhibition is on view until January 28th, Tuesday – Saturday, 12-4 PM. Free of charge.
