RED BANK: READ-IN WITH CHILDREN’S AUTHOR

February 3, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm

To kick off Black History Month, children’s author and Djembe percussionist Kojo Ayinde C. Johnson headlines the National African American Read-In at Two River Theater.

Organized by by the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center, the Red Bank Public Library and the United Methodist Church of Red Bank, the event features a celebration of African drumming and a reading of Johnson’s new book, “The Lesson: Abu’s Curiosity,” for ages 8 years old and up.

Established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English, the National African American Read-In is an engaging way for young people, during Black History Month, to be exposed to works by Black authors.
