Here's an announcement made early Sunday afternoon by the Borough of Red Bank, issued in light of the National Weather Service forecast of a possible 5 to 9 inches of snow overnight:
Garbage pickup suspended during snow emergency
RED BANKBorough Administrator Stanley Sickels has announced that the Borough will temporarily suspend regular garbage pick up during the snow emergency expected for Monday, March 2 and reminds residents of parking and snow removal procedures during inclement weather.
Residents east of Broad Street, who regularly have garbage collection on Mondays and Thursdays, will have no pick up this Monday and are asked to hold their garbage cans on their property for collection on the following Thursday, which would be the next regular collection day. Cans can be placed at the curb after 6pm Wednesday night for the Thursday morning pick up.
Residents are also reminded that the ban against on-street overnight parking will be strictly enforced during the snow emergency to facilitate plowing. Residents who do not have parking available on their property may use the municipal parking lots east of Broad Street for overnight parking but are asked to remove their cars from the lot by 7am. Cars left on the street may be ticketed and/or removed.
Please remember it is the responsibility of all property owners, occupants, tenants and/or supervisors, to ensure that all public walkways are clear of snow and ice within 24 hours of snowfall. If the ice is frozen and unpractical to remove, the walkway should be sprinkled with salt or sand. Those who do not comply will receive a warning from the Code Enforcement Office followed by a fine of up to $100.
