COPS SAY M’TOWN BURGLAR NETTED $500,000

nick-tracy1An alleged 21-year-old burglar bagged more than $500,000 worth of jewelry from four homes along ritzy Navesink River Road in the last two months, Middletown police said Thursday.

Nicholas Tracy — who was recently featured on redbankgreen for driving around Red Bank with a bust of Napoleon Bonaparte in the front seat of his car — was caught in the act Wednesday when officers responding to a residential alarm found him hiding in third-floor bathroom, police said in a press release.

Here’s the full release:

The Middletown Police Department has arrested, Nicholas Tracy, age 21, from Clubhouse Drive in Beachwood, NJ and charged him with committing four residential burglaries along Navesink River Road that totaled over $500,000.00 in stolen jewelry.

The burglaries occurred over a two month period beginning in March of 2011. On April 13, 2011 police responded to a residence on Navesink River Road in reference to a burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival Patrolman Ryan Riffert and Patrolman Carl Roth located Tracy hiding in a third floor bathroom and took him into custody.

Detective William Strohkirch, the lead investigator in the case, and Detective Peter White, conducted the follow up investigation which resulted in Tracy being charged with four counts of third degree Burglary and three counts of second degree Theft and the recovery of many of the stolen items. Tracy was processed and was being held on $100,000 bail with no 10% option set by Judge Richard Thompson.

Police credit Officers Riffert and Roth with performing outstanding police work that resulted in catching Tracy inside the residence and Detective Strohkirch and Detective White with conducting a thorough follow up investigation which connected him to the other three burglaries and the recovery of the stolen property.
