Middletown police made several arrests over the weekend, including one of a man accused of drunkenly smashing a vehicle into the back of a paint truck and another police said caused a noisy ruckus outside a home in the Belford section of town.
Details of the police reports are below.
At about 6:50 p.m. on Friday, police arrested 20-year-old Michael Thomas for disorderly conduct related to his actions outside a home on Main Street in Belford. Thomas, police said, was acting violently outside the home and screaming profanities, which caused a small crowd to gather in the area. He was arrested and processed by police, then released pending a court date.
About an hour later, an off-duty cop spotted someone at the Kohls department store on Route 35 who he had known to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. An officer was dispatched to the store and arrested William Deppisch on the $3,500 contempt of court warrant out of Holmdel. Detective Lieutenant Steve Dollinger said Deppisch was also found to have marijuana and Alprazolam pills, which are similar to Xanax. Deppisch was charged with unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of less than 50 milligrams of marijuana and was held on $53,500 bail with no 10-percent option.
At about 8:25 p.m. Friday, police arrested a man for allegedly trying to steal two bottles of rum from the Foodtown supermarket in Port Monmouth. The man, Adam Stranges, 19, tried to leave the store with two bottles of Captain Morgan spiced rum when he was detained by police and taken to headquarters for processing. Stranges, of Seabreeze Avenue, was charged with shoplifting and possession of alcohol underage, Dollinger said.
A suspicious vehicle on Pearl Street led to two arrests early Saturday morning. Patrolman Raymond Sofield, after seeing the vehicle’s interior light on at about 2:40 a.m., approached the car and detected a strong odor of marijuana, Dollinger said. Sofield determined that two 23-year-olds in the car, William Drummer, of Leslie Lane, and Michael Cavalier, of Ned Court, were in possession of marijuana. Both men were charged with possession of less than 50 milligrams of marijuana, processed and released pending a court date.
At about 4 a.m. Saturday, police arrested a man who they say got into a drunken driving accident on Route 35, near Twinbrooks Drive. The man, Dollinger said, drove through a work zone and hit a painting truck. Police charged Michael Lennox, 21, of Walker Terrace, with driving while intoxicated, open alcohol in a motor vehicle, failing to maintain lanes, reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt and prohibited use of a cell phone. Lennox was taken to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune for injuries sustained in the accident, Dollinger said.
One 14-year-old was arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly possessing marijuana. Dollinger said a patrolling officer saw two teenagers in the area of the hockey rink at McMahon Park and smelled marijuana. That led to the arrest of one of the teens, who was charged with possession of less than 50 milligrams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The teenager was released to his mother, Dollinger said.
Three people were arrested on warrants:
Alannah Heilweil, 20, of Rutledge Drive arrested on May 5 by Patrolman Charles Higgins on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Wall Township Municipal Court. She was released after posting $140.00 bail.
Christopher Rosado, 32, of Keystone Avenue in Atlantic Highlands arrested on May 7 by Patrolman Felipe Benedit on warrants issued by the Middletown Municipal Court and the Monmouth County Superior Court. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
Stanislav Tolstunov, 32, of Prospect Avenue in Hackensack arrested on May 5 by Corporal William Kennelly on a warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal court. He was released after posting bail.
