MAKE A BET TO BENEFIT RED BANK SCHOOLS

Press release from Red Bank Borough Education Foundation

casino_night_flyer-1639932Test your luck — and help the Red Bank public schools at the same time! The Red Bank Borough Education Foundation will host a Casino Night on Friday, October 23, from 7 to 10 pm at the Red Bank Elks Lodge #233, 40 West Front Street in Red Bank.

Money raised from the event will fund STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) projects, including the formation of a STEAM lab at the Red Bank Primary School in honor of Rosemarie Kopka, according to Education Foundation president Susan Berke. Kopka, who passed away in April of this year, was a longtime resident of Red Bank, the driving force behind the formation of the Education Foundation, and the first woman to serve on the Red Bank Board of Education.

The STEAM curriculum is a priority for schools throughout the country, and the Education Foundation has made it its mission to promote these studies at the Red Bank public schools. In June, the Education Foundation held a raffle to raise money for the purchase of Chromebooks, and in the past it has funded mini-grants to fund Science Day at the primary school and the video editing club at the middle school. The Foundation was also instrumental in helping to restore the orchestra strings program at the schools.

“We want Casino Night to be a fun evening for parents, faculty and the entire Red Bank community,” Berke said. “And it will all go to benefit the children. I am a true believer that everyone has to do their share, and the money raised will go to help the Red Bank public schools.”

The STEAM lab will be built in the primary school’s library, said Red Bank Borough Schools Superintendent Jared Rumage. It will provide a hands-on experience to students and allow teachers to collaborate on STEAM-related projects.

Tickets for the Casino Night will be $60 per person, which includes $50 in play money. Tickets can be purchased online at rbbef.org, by calling Kathie Panepinto at (732)224-1267, or by mailing Susan Berke at 25 Brown Place, Red Bank NJ 07701. Table sponsorships are also available.
