SHREWSBURY: CYMCA ANNOUNCES NEW VEEP

Press release from The Community YMCA

barry-martin-5486016The Shrewsbury-based Community YMCA, one of the area’s leading nonprofit organizations, is pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Martin as the new Vice President of Health, Wellness and Camping.

In his leadership role at the CYMCA, the Little Silver resident will direct operations of the Y’s flagship Health and Wellness facility in Red Bank and Camp Zehnder, a 140-acre outdoor day camp in Wall Township. Working with a team of about 300 employees and volunteers, he will focus on increasing membership and program participation, maintaining service excellence and building community relationships to support the Y’s cause.

Martin brings more than 20 years of nonprofit managerial experience to the Y. Most recently, he served for four years as Statewide Executive Director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, in Atlanta, GA. Prior to that, he oversaw the State YMCA of Pennsylvania as the CEO and Executive Director. He got his start at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, where he worked his way up from program director to executive director.

“I’m blessed and excited to be returning to the YMCA family by joining The Community YMCA,” said Martin. “I enjoyed my time at MADD, but missed the sense of community spirit that only the Y seems to create. It is a unique and special place to belong.”
