The White Street municipal lot is the scene for eye-popping autos of every era at Sunday’s 14th annual Red Bank Firefighters (a.k.a. Doc Holiday) Car Show. (Click to enlarge.)

Also known as the Robert “Doc” Holiday Car Show, in honor of a fondly remembered volunteer responder of bygone decades, the fundraising festival of vintage vehicles commandeers the center-of-town municipal parking lot for a 14th edition that goes on display this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Even if you’re not a “car guy” per se — or even a guy — it’s hard not to find fascination in this portrait of American life over the last century, sculpted in steel, chrome, fiberglass and perhaps a touch of “real Corinthian leather.” Having drawn hundreds of beautifully restored classics to past editions — from perennial favorites like Ford T-Birds and Chevy Bel-Airs, to rarely encountered eye-poppers like Kaiser Darrins and Hudson Hornets — the event offers a conveniently situated, easily navigated experience that still ranks with the best of the area’s many warm-weather antique auto expos.
To further distinguish it from the pack, volunteer firefighters also offer an up-close look at some active-duty emergency responder equipment.
Food and beverages will be available on site, with trophies awarded to the best-in-show winners, and a DJ soundtrack of oldie pop hits. All proceeds will be dedicated to college scholarship funds named in memory of Doc Holiday, and for Liberty Hose, the still-active company that relocated in 2014 to the borough’s First Aid station on Spring Street.
There’s still time to enter a classic vehicle for inclusion in the show, for a pre-registration cost of $12 ($15 day of event). Call (732) 240-6183 for additional info.
