CANDIDATE’S NIGHT SET

Amid reminders from local officials that the deadline for voter registrations is nearing, Red Bank’s Westside Community Group has scheduled its thirteenth annual candidate’s night, at which all four contenders for two council seats are expected to appear.

Running are Democratic incumbents Art Murphy and Michael DuPont and Republicans Kim Senkeleski and Rob Lombardi.

Here’s the 411 on the event:

Wednesday, October 14th from 7 to 9:30p, River Street Commons,

First floor Community Room, 49 Catherine Street (formerly River Street School).

The format for the council candidate panel will include:

(1) not more than a three-minute opening statement by each candidate,

(2) questions from the audience lasting no more than one hour, and

(3) a final section consisting of  no more than a three-minute closing statement by each of the candidates.

The event will be moderated by the Westside Community Group President Amy Goldsmith.

Meanwhile, the deadline for residents wishing to participate in the Nov. 3 general election is October 13. If you have not previously registered to vote, you must register by that date..

You may register in person at the Monmouth County Voter Registration Office, 300 Halls Mills Rd., Freehold Township, from 8:30a to 4:30p weekdays. The office will remain open until 9p on Tuesday, Oct. 13, for last minute voter registrations.

Save some time by downloading a copy of the New Jersey voter registration application, filling it out before hand and taking it with you when you go to register. The form can be found on the County ClerkÂ’s section of the Monmouth County Web site here.

You can also register by mail by downloading, completing and mailing the New Jersey voter registration application.

You register in the town where you live. In Red Bank, that’s at the borough clerk’s office at 90 Monmouth Street, which is open from 8a to 6p, Monday through Thursday. Phone: 732.530.2740.

No matter how you register, you will be asked to provide your New Jersey driverÂ’s license number or Motor Vehicle Commission non-driver identification number or Social Security number on the voter registration application.

You can register to vote in Monmouth County if:

• you are a U.S. citizen
• you will be at least 18 years old by the next election
• you will be a resident of the State of New Jersey and Monmouth County 30 days prior to the election
• you are not currently incarcerated, on probation or parole because of a felony conviction.
