Two art openings, one celebrating the 50th anniversary of the film “Jaws” and one focusing on humans’ spoiling of our earthly paradise are on tap this weekend in Red Bank. The simultaneous openings are within a short walk of one another as a summer street music series offers a preview at the same time, so you can be serenaded as you walk from one to the other. On Saturday from 5 pm to 8 pm the Art Alliance Studio and Gallery at 33 Monmouth Street hosts an opening for its Jaws 50th anniversary art exhibition.

CODA, in conjunction with Popcore, Universal Studios and Amblin Entertainment, are pleased to present an officially licensed art exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s seminal film, JAWS. When JAWS premiered in 1975, it didn’t just redefine the thriller genre, it completely changed Hollywood filmmaking. The first true summer blockbuster, Steven Spielberg’s masterful direction combined with John Williams’ iconic score created a sensory experience that forever changed how audiences engage with the silver screen. The film’s influence can be found throughout popular culture, from dramatic suspense building techniques to the marketing strategies that now dominate the industry. JAWS also marked a turning point in the psychological portrayal of fear and nature in media, turning the ocean into both a literal and metaphorical abyss.
The show runs through July 13.
Also on Saturday 6 to 8 pm Galerie Lucida hosts an opening of its summer exhibit, “Echoes of Eden” which runs through August 31.
The exhibit, “invites viewers to celebrate the natural world while considering the plight of our current environment and the possibilities for renewal,” according to a Lucida press release. “It serves as both a reminder of lost innocence and a clarion call for restoration.”
The group exhibition features artists whose imagery and ideas reflect their deep respect and concern for environmental issues. Echoes of Eden includes work by Lisa Bagwell, Kristian Battell, Nanette Reynolds Beachner, Justin DeMattico, Franki DeSaro, Jada Fabrizio, Michael Flomen, Jeanne Friscia, Wynn Gay, Sandra Giunta, Allison Green, Cheryl Gross, Eleanor James, Chuck Kelton, Donna Rae Kessinger, Susan M. Mania, Michael Paris Mazzeo, Stacey AS Pritchard, Allegra Toran, Josué Morales Urbina, Amy
Wilson, Kimberly Witham, and Deborah Yasinksy.

Also Saturday night, Red Bank RiverCenter and Monmouth Arts offer a warmup for the summer Street Life Music Series. The series runs every Saturday in July and August, with performances on Broad Street, Monmouth Street and Front Street from 6pm to 9pm.
This week’s “sneak peak” performance features the brother/siste duo Pair of Shoez on Broad Street between Kori Kori and Amanda Jean. You’ll hear them as you walk from one gallery to the other, on our advice, of course.
