Here’s the answer to last week’s “Where.”

Fisher Diamonds 46 Broad Street 11202025Last week’s photo was the side of the building at 46 Broad Street, photographed from White Street with our backs to Starbucks.

The building houses A.H. Fisher Diamonds – whose owner Alan Fisher is a longtime, regular, loyal, highly adept and enthusiastic “Where Have I Seen This” player.  We’re not sure if this is the first time the Where photo has been of a building owned by a dedicated Wherester.”

The metal stars in the photo, a bit of internet research reveals, are not ornamental features but are actually anchor bolts used in the construction of older and historic brick buildings to keep them intact.

In this case, the anchor bolts may have been both a clue to the building’s identity and a misleading false clue at the same time.

Four people guessed that this building was the Wikoff building at 225 Maple Avenue, another historic brick building with star-shaped anchor bolts and green trim. Another person guessed it was the former Kislin’s Sports store on East Front, another similar looking building.

This was a tricky one!

Longtime, sharp-eyed and loyal “Where” regular Alan Fisher, owner of A.H. Fisher Diamonds, had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of seeing his own building featured this week, writing (and we think we have the right number of exclamation marks), “This is my building!!!!
