FAIR HAVENITE BUSTED ON WEAPON CHARGE

hot-topic rightA 19-year-old Fair Haven man was arrested in Middletown on Saturday night on drug and weapon-possession charges, the township police department reported today.

Carl Vonpier was busted in the Lincroft section for holding what police said was a pot pipe and “a metal knuckle with two blades protruding from the top,” police said in a statement.

Township police spokeman Detective Lieutenant Steve Dollinger was unable to confirm immediately if Vonpier is the same man who caused a stir with a spree of alleged break-ins that triggered a dog-and-helicopter search in Colts Neck and Tinton Falls in July. That 19-year-old suspect was also named Carl Vonpier and reported to be a Fair Haven resident.

Here’s the text of the news release:

On November 6, 2010 at approximately 9:30pm Ptl. Charles Higgins and Ptl. Nicholas Fenezia responded to the area of Riverbrook Drive in the Lincroft section of Middletown in reference to a party call.

While investigating the call Ptl. Higgins observed a subject, Carl Vonpier, age 19, from First Street in Fair Haven, NJ, who had an object which resembled a knife clipped to his belt. Further investigation revealed that the object was actually a metal knuckle with two blades protruding from the top.

Vonpier was placed under arrest for Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Ptl. Higgins conducted a search of a bag Vonpier was carrying incident to his arrest and located three pipes commonly used to smoke Marijuana. The pipes contained what appeared to be Marijuana residue in them.

Vonpier was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in addition to the two weapons charges.
