A Sovereign Bank branch on Route 35 in Middletown was robbed late Friday, police said.
Detective Lieutenant Steve Dollinger said authorities are searching for a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, weighs about 150 pounds and is between five-foot-six and five-foot-eight inches tall.
The robber, who was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, a beige baseball cap, dark-framed glasses and a scarf across his face, allegedly walked into Sovereign Bank at about 5p Friday and told a teller he had a gun and demanded money, Dollinger said. No weapon was shown, but the man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, Dollinger said.
The suspect left on foot and walked across the street to a strip mall on New Monmouth Road.
