Listen up, young ladies. It’s time to start thinking about the future, and the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore and a slew of volunteer organizations are here to help.
On February 5, they’ll host “Career Wise In A Day,” a medley of seminars geared towards high school women to give them a comprehensive rundown of the possibilities ahead of them post-graduation.
There are plenty of options to choose from. Seminars, to be held at Red Bank’s Oyster Point Hotel (above), include speakers on the ins and outs of being an artist, politician, doctor and, gulp journalist, among others.
And if you sign up by the end of the day, there’s a discount.
The daylong event is designed to give teens a look at what it’s like to get into and become successful in various professions.
Diane Belforti, a marketer who helped organize the event, said it’s different from traditional career days because it’s completely developed by business women for young women. They’ll get advice on what it’s like to break into different fields and learn what it’s really like to have these various careers, she said.
“We hope girlfriends will find Career Wise in a Day’ to be inspiring,” Belforti said. “We’d like the young women to enjoy an empowering program together and consider all the possibilities ahead of them. Career Wise in a Day’ could light a spark and ignite a passion for the future.”
The day’s keynote speaker is Judge Susan Wigenton of the U.S. District Court for New Jersey. Confirmed panelists include an FBI agent, representatives from Tiffany & Co., and the following:
