The scene at Monmouth and West Streets at 1:30p today.
A motorist avoided serious injury this afternoon when her car veered off Monmouth Street into the onetime waiting room of a long-shuttered service station at the corner of West Street.
Red Bank Police tell redbankgreen that the 47-year-old motorist was heading west on Monmouth at about 1p when she lost control of the vehicle, striking a parked car on the eastbound side of the street and continuing onto the vacant service station lot.
Her car plowed into the boarded-up waiting room of the former Monmouth Service Center and spun almost 90 degrees on impact.
The property was approved for a multiuse retail, office and residential project earlier this year.
Police said a medical emergency appears to have led to the accident. Though the driver was apparently not injured in the crash, she was taken to Riverview Medical Center for observation.
There were no passengers in the car.
