FIREWORKS PREVIEW: SEA BRIGHT

Not to be forgotten amid the July 3 KaBoom blitzkrieg at two Navesink River locations is an annual tradition just across the Shrewsbury River in Sea Bright, which will hold its Fourth of July fireworks on the actual Fourth of July.

But like Red Bank, the small seaside town faces a big task in getting large numbers of people in for the show.

“Our biggest issue here is parking,” Police Chief John Sorrentino said.

If you can’t find parking, though, you eventually will. That is to say, when the show begins, the search for spots comes to a standstill.

“Once the fireworks go off, everybody stops on Ocean Avenue and nobody complains,” said Sorrentino. “It’s pretty fun, actually.”

The entire 16-member police force will be on hand for the show, which will begin at dark and will be shot from the Anchorage Beach.

That will force the closure of the beach’s parking lot Sunday and Monday for pre-show set-up, Sorrentino said.

Because of the inconvenience, the borough will offer 75 free beach badges to the general public each day on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If rain washes out the show, it will be rescheduled for July 5.
