The sand, and ponytails, went flying at the 27th annual All-Women Lifeguard Tournament at Sandy Hook on Wednesday.
Hosted by Gateway National Recreation Area, the tourney – billed as the oldest in the United States – pits female lifeguards from oceanfront, river, bay, lake and pool lifeguard squads against one another in 10 events designed to highlight fitness, skills, strength and endurance.
