GOING DOUBLE DUTCH AT BASIE FIELDS

Red Bank Rec added a peppy new activity to its lineup this summer: ‘Get Up and Jump,’ a double-Dutch jump-roping program conceived and run by borough residents Queenie Ferguson and Britney Brunson.

The program, which is open to all, runs for 90 minutes every Thursday starting at 5 p.m. at the basketball courts at Count Basie Fields. The $5 fee includes snacks afterward.

Two more sessions are scheduled for the season, and beginners are still welcome, says Ferguson, a former double Dutch champion in New York City.

A fall session is scheduled to begin in September.

The kids in the program are slated to put on a demonstration of their talents at Bethel Christian Center on Saturday, August 27 at 1pm.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
