The season of big, beautiful voices kicks off next Saturday, Nov. 18, with the presentation of ‘Four Trumpets and a Chorus’ by the Monmouth Civic Chorus at the First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank.

An unusual pairing of voices with brass instruments, the centerpiece of the program is the French Romantic composer Henri Busser’s Domrémy Mass, a festive work in honor of Joan of Arc.

Soprano Jo Ellen Miller of Middletown will sing the hauntingly beautiful soprano solo in both the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré and J.S. Bach’s Cantata #51, Jauchzet Gott in Allen Landen (Praise God in All Lands), a virtuoso star-turn for soprano, trumpet and organ. The trumpets will shine in the Quartet for Trumpets by the Armenian composer Arzas Voskanyan.

The concert is at 8p at the Tower Hill church, located at 255 Harding Road. Tickets are $25 general admission, $22 seniors, $20 groups of 10 or more, $5 students.

Looking ahead, the chorus will bring its traditional holiday classic, Messiah Plus Christmas Pops, to the Count Basie Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4p. The Christmas portion of Handel’s beloved oratorio will be performed with chamber orchestra, along with carols from around the world.

Single tickets are $40 for premium seating ($35 seniors, $30 groups, $10 students), $25 regular ($22 seniors, $20 groups, $5 students) and $15 economy ($5 students). Subscribers get $40 tickets for just $20.

The seaons continues March 18 when Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Barbara Dever joins the chorus and orchestra for Let Freedom Sing, featuring three major choral works on the theme of freedom. And on June 9, the chorus wraps up its seaon at the Two River Theater with Sounds Like Shakespeare Act II , a celebration of the Bard in music from opera to Broadway.

Tickets are $25 general admission, $22 seniors, $20 groups, $5 students.

Subscriptions are $60 for the November, March and June concerts, or $80 for all four. Student subscriptions are only $20 or $30. Call (732) 933-9333, or order online at Monmouth Civic Chorus.
