DINNER FOR LUNCH

Pasta2

Remember when non-profits used to hold spaghetti-supper fundraisers? Now, of course, they’re called pasta dinners, pasta being what results when you mix flour, egg, and a touch of urbanity.

Lunch Break, Monmouth County’s oldest soup kitchen, is rolling with the times, and will host a pasta dinner fundraiser this Saturday from 4 to 7p.

Of course, nothing could be more sophisticated than what 85-year-old director Norma Todd and the folks at Lunch Break do, which is to provide hot and bagged lunches, groceries, clothing, health screenings and referrals to people who need them, no questions asked.

For $10 per person, participants in the fundraiser will enjoy a complete meal of, yes, spaghetti, meatballs, vegetables and garlic bread. Take-out service is available, and dinners can be pre-ordered by calling 732-747-8577.

Lunch Break is located at the corner of Drs. James Parker Boulevard and Bridge Avenue.
