RED BANK: Find some time to head to Two River Theatre Company to see On Borrowed Time, directed by Tony and Oscar winner Joel Grey, who starred in the play as a child more than 70 years ago. The Paul Osborn drama follows a relationship between a grandfather and his orphaned grandson and touches on life, love, death and devotion. RED BANK: Red Bank’s own Phoenix Productions puts on its rendition of Damn Yankees, the musical comedy by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, at Count Basie Theatre. Michael Kroll directs the story of a baseball fan who makes a deal with the devil to bring his team of underdogs victory. He soon realizes the devil throws temptation in the way in the form of a woman named Lola. Damn Yankees begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22, $26, and $36. 99 Monmouth Street.
RED BANK: Slim Chance & The Gamblers play a BYOB house party at the old Anthony Reckless Estate as a part of the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation’s monthly music series. Proceeds of the Reckless Steamy Nights series go to benefit the scholarship programs of the JSJBF and the Woman’s Club of Red Bank. MIDDLETOWN: Residents celebrate their town at the Park and Recreational Department’s Croydon Hall for some community family fun. The daylong, rain-or-shine festival includes kids’ activities, circus performers, a classic car show, live music and more. Shuttle bus services will be available. SHREWSBURY: Food historian and tea specialist Judith Krall Russo leads a lesson on women and tea in Victorian England at Monmouth County’s Eastern Branch Library. Krall will discuss how women were banned from purchasing tea until the early 18th century and the impact tea had on upper-class and working-class women during the Victorian Era. 1001 Route 35 North.
SHREWSBURY: This week, family story fun revolves all around the letters that make up the English language. The Monmouth County Eastern Branch Library invites children and parents ages 1 and up to enjoy Alphabet Adventures. 1001 Route 35 North.
RED BANK: Get in shape at the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign Community Walk through Marine Park and Riverside Gardens. The daylong, rain-or-shine walk is kid friendly, too. RUMSON: On your mark, get set… race to the fourth annual Rumson Boat Race at the Navesink River. Division I Collegiate teams from Army, Rutgers, Villanova and Dad Vail champs Drexel compete for the Governor’s Cup and the Mayor’s Cup trophies. Student-athletes from the Central New Jersey Rowing Association (RFH Rowing, Rumson; St. Joseph’s High School, Metuchen; Westfield High school) will also compete in the Rumson Boat Race, if weather and conditions permit.
