Press release from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School

Eamon Kitson, senior Co-Captain and forward for the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Boys Soccer Team, was recently named “Player of the Year” by the Asbury Park Press, and by the Jersey Shore Sporting Network.

Jersey Shore Sporting Network also named first-year Head Coach Will Gould “All-Division Coach of the Year.”

And that was just the icing on the cake for this year’s team, which ended the school’s best season ever with a record of 19-3-1 and won the 2013 “Central A” Divisional Championship.

The RFH soccer players made school history by advancing to the finals of the Shore Conference and NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Tournaments, each for the first time. The team’s seeding for the tournaments, at numbers three and two respectively, was also the highest in school history.

The team also claimed the greatest number of “goals for” in the 2013 Shore Conference lineup, with 60 goals for and just 21 goals against for a goal differential of +39.

Eamon Kitson was also named to the “First Team All-Shore” by the Asbury Park Press, as were Co-Captain and midfield player Pete Martin and senior defense and midfield player Matt Dell. Senior defenseman Ryan Strang was named to the “Second Team All Shore.”

Eamon Kitson, Pete Martin, and senior goalie Chris Tierney were named to the “First Team All Division – Central A” and “First Team All County – Shore Conference” by the Star-Ledger.

Also honored by the Star Ledger were Chris Tierney and Eamon Kitson for “First Team All-State,” and Pete Martin for “Second Team All-State.”

Jersey Shore Sporting Network named Eamon Kitson and Pete Martin to “First Team All Shore,” and Ryan Strang to “Second Team All Shore.” Matt Dell and Chris Tierney were selected for “Third Team All Shore.”

Eamon Kitson, Peter Martin, Matt Dell, and Ryan Strang were honored by Jersey Shore Sporting Network as “First Team All Division.” Junior forward Mike Slutz, senior midfielder/forward Harry Gassert, senior defenseman Carl Geiger, senior defenseman/midfielder Chris Drummond, Chris Tierney, and junior forward Mike Slutz were named to “Second Team All Division.”

Tierney made 110 saves and earned six shut-outs for the season.

Kitson led the team in goals scored, with a total of 15. Martin led the team for assists, with 14 in all.

“A coach’s first season is one that he will never forget,” said Gould. “My players made sure that the memory of my first season will be one that keeps me smiling for a lifetime.”

RFH Varsity Boys’ Soccer roster also featured Sam Atkinson, Kieran Doherty, Colin Heath, Trevor Hembling, Bryce Langille, Enzo Lucarelli, Tom Miller, Jimmy Purcell, Matt Sheehan, Paul Criscitiello, Shaemus Ffrench, Danny Susser, Christian Ciardiello, Pete Halliday, Jamie Martin, Jack Balestro, Carson Greengrove, and Sam Sapnar.

Assistant Coaches are Adam Wolff and Jon Pennetti.
