LINCROFT: WOMEN IN THE ARENA AT BCC

maureen-mauro-6353967Famed “Medium Next Door” Maureen Hancock and Chef Mauro of Carlo’s Bakery are among the special guests, as the NJ Women’s Expo commandeers Brookdale’s Collins Arena for two days of “especially for women” seminars and demos.

“Gather your gal pals and treat yourselves,” it says here, “to the best local shopping, fashion, entertainment, food, travel, cosmetics and so much more.”

When the New Jersey Women’s Expo comes to the campus of Brookdale Community College for a fourth annual edition this weekend, it will commandeer the event floor and walkways of the Robert J. Collins Arena for two late morning/ afternoon sessions of product and service displays, health and beauty seminars, guest speakers and fashion shows (featuring the students of Red Bank’s Barbizon School of Modeling). It will feature a “Wellness Begins in Bed” panel presented by medical professionals from primary sponsor Meridian Health. And, it will entice attendees to venture into the wooded wilds of Lincroft by giving us something we can’t get at home: real live TV personalities.

The star-attraction action commences at noon on Saturday, November 1 with an appearance by Chef Mauro Castano, of the flagship Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken and the wildly popular Cake Boss series. The Master Confections Decorator will start the weekend on a sweet keynote, by personally customizing and presenting the official NJ Women’s Expo Celebration Cake. Come back at noon on Sunday, November 2, when master baker Joe Coyle of Raritan Bakery live-builds a “Start to Finish 5 Tier Wedding Cake.”

Featured guest on Saturday will be a figure who’s been a headline attraction at the Count Basie Theatre — Maureen Hancock, the self-styled “internationally renowned Spirit Medium, intuitive, teacher, lecturer, Holistic Healer, and author of the bestselling book, The Medium Next Door: Adventures of a Real-Life Ghost Whisperer.” The subject of the Style Network documentary Psychic In Suburbia and numerous other TV appearances will offer her 3 pm presentation of “Postcards from Heaven” — bringing “messages of hope, reassurance, and knowledge that our loved ones are still with us” in a manner that “will soften even the most hardened skeptic.”

There’s more on tap for the weekend, including a Sunday afternoon talk by Happiness Expert Carin Rockind, on Inspiring and Empowering Women to Create Lives That They Love. Expo hours are 11 am to 5 pm both days; admission is $7 for adults (under 17 free), and complete details, including list of exhibitors and event schedule, can be found right here.

Remember: Nothing makes a Red Bank friend happier than to hear "I saw you on Red Bank Green!"
