RED BANK: NEARLY NAKED IN NOVEMBER

go-naked-1-2011-220x165-3633256It’s an event that has at its heart a life-and-death mission — although there’s plenty of wiggle-and-jiggle room for a healthy dose of fun and flirty.

It’s the fundraiser known as Go Naked and Check Yourself — the fourth annual edition of which takes to the  Downtown on Sunday, the latest in a series that’s collected over $35,000 toward raising awareness of detectable forms of cancer and promoting simple self-examination procedures.

The brainchild of two Red Bank retail business owners —  cupcake creator Chris Paseka (Sugarush) and lingerie purveyor Angela Courtney (Sweetest Sin Boutique), the Go Naked party is one in which attendees mingle, enjoy drink specials, bid on prizes and share close proximity with “lingerie and boxer-clad models… no nudity of course,” according to the promotional come-on.

Described as “a community-wide event for businesses and residents to join together and kick off the holiday season, raising money to help those affected in Monmouth and Ocean counties,” the fundraiser “strives to empower and encourage individuals by inviting everyone to ‘go naked’ and check themselves.”

Scheduled for 5 to 8 pm on the upper level of the Downtown duplex, the evening will include complimentary champagne, appetizers, music by Sounds To Go DJs, auctions, gift bags, photo booth — and of course, lingerie and cupcakes, courtesy of the producing sponsors. All ticket sales and raffle proceeds from the event will go directly to the area chapter of Young Survival Coalition, as well as to Kick Cancer Overboard and the men’s health initiative Movember.

Tickets ($40 in advance) can be reserved in person at Sugarush (37 East Front Street) or Sweetest Sin (11 White Street). First-come, first-served admission is also available at the door for $50 per person, and a limited number of VIP tables for four will be reserved for $500.

The Red Bank RiverCenter organization is among more than 90 borough-based businesses helping to sponsor Sunday’s bash, a full rundown of which can be seen (along with up-to-the-minute updates) on the event’s Facebook page.
