The annual event returns to St. George’s Church in September, with a May 17 deadline for entries .

Press release from St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church

Artists in all media are being invited to submit their work for the 2015 edition of the Canterbury Art Show … a Tapestry of the Arts, a premier local exhibition and sale of juried and non-juried artwork hosted at St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church in Rumson.

The three-day event returns to the historic Lincoln Avenue church on Labor Day weekend — Friday September 4, Saturday September 5, and Sunday September 6 — with a preview Meet the Artists reception taking place on Thursday, September 3.

Artists are invited to visit the event’s website to fill out the Participation Form and register for the event. Artists may choose to submit their work for any or all of the show’s segments:  the Juried Gallery, the Non-Juried Treasures, and the Non-Juried Portfolio Pieces.  The 2015 registration fees and Artist Participation forms must be received no later than May 17, 2015, and participation in the Non-Juried Treasures segment is limited to the first 65 received Artist Participation forms, with payment.

Hundreds of attendees and art patrons have enjoyed the Canterbury Art show, which will celebrate its fourth year in 2015. Each year, over 600 works by artists from all over New Jersey and beyond are displayed and sold. The art show committee continues to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community. All proceeds from the Art Show directly benefit St. George’s-by-the-River and its Outreach Grants to more than 30 local agencies serving the needy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, including Lunch Break, 180 Turning Lives Around and more.

This year’s Jury will include well-known local artists and gallery owners. Erik Johansen has been a member of the Brookdale Community College faculty over 25 years. Carol Lynn Chetkin is the co-owner of Red Bank’s Chetkin Gallery, which she established with her husband Donald in 1987.  Kim Roberts-Honecker runs a freelance art agency and is an award-winning art exhibitor and current chairperson for the Monmouth County Arts Council.

Last year’s Best in Show winner was Cheryl Griesbach for her oil Home.  The Award in Excellence was given to Michael Scherfen for his watercolor The Gondoliers, Venice, Italy.  Other winning artists were Joe Bergholm, John Forrester, Mary Connell Gaynor, Rand Hettler, Frank Colaguori, Mike Quon, and Annette Masstrolia-Tynan.
