Press release from The Purr’n Pooch Foundation

Since its founding in 2010, the Shrewsbury-based, volunteer-run Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals has awarded more than $100,000 to non-profit animal rescue and welfare organizations, ensuring that organizations helping animals in need are getting proper funding and help from outside sources.

Recently, the Foundation announced the awarding of grants to 10 non-profit organizations — including three based in Monmouth County: All Fur Love Animal Rescue of Freehold, Cat Assistance Network, Inc. of Allenhurst, and Mid-Atlantic Bulldog Rescue of Belmar. Donations are used for day-to-day operations, emergency relief, spay/neuter efforts, veterinary care, equipment, construction, vehicle purchases, educational programs and special projects.

alexandani 2 122013alexandani 1 122013Alex and Ani, the Red Bank jewelry store with crystals embedded in its walls for positive spiritual energy, has been feeling the spirit of the season in recent days, with so many customers that it has to limit the number who can enter at any one time, said store employee John Pal, who was manning the door Friday afternoon. Amanda Warnock, right, was there for some more bracelets. (Click to enlarge)

GOOD VIBES: ALEX AND ANI CRYSTALIZES

Set to open at 12 Broad Street in Red Bank Monday is Alex and Ani, the latest in a chain of jewelry stores whose products, the company says, are infused “with the positive energy that ancients refer to as vital force.”

So is the store itself, located between Urban Outfitters and Zebu Forno: as previously reported by redbankgreen, embedded between the wall studs during construction were  individual crystals, held in place with electrical tape, above right. (Click to enlarge)
